Make yourself at home. In your home office.

Some big companies - like Google - are now instructing their employees to come back to the office every day.
Others - like LEGO - are firmly committed to 'best of both', with colleagues using their desks on a three day a week basis.
But, for now, most of us will be working from home at least a couple of days a week. Which creates some domestic issues.
During COVID, it was accepted that your spare room was just a temporary backdrop to your Zoom call. So it was okay to chat to the CEO with a rail of drying underwear visible stage left (before you found that button that smudged the background).
And those boxes full of children's toys for the car boot sale just created a kind of charming cardboard ambiance.
However, both for your self-respect and sanity, when you spend at least a couple of days a week working like this, you eventually want to make your home office function better and look more together.
You could start buying office furniture to get organised but it's not very...homely. And you're probably using bits and bobs of furniture that you already have, chosen for comfort or style, rather than desk work.
So, how do you get everything sorted so that you can do your job comfortably and professionally?
Over the coming days and weeks, we're going to try to help.
We've been speaking to architects, workplace designers, interior designers, lighting experts and productivity gurus and we've collected some really simple, sensible advice for anyone who has to WFH.
In our next blog post, we'll begin with storage - it's what we do and clearing up clutter will be an essential part of the exercise.
However, in future posts, we'll be talking about topics we don't usually focus on and products we don't sell. So, there'll be impartial advice that costs nothing, too.
Until next time...with or without your cat running over your desk.
