If you struggle to declutter, even after binge watching Marie Kondo, maybe you should try creating a system to get things sorted.
This is incredibly obvious, we know, but it works.
When everything has its proper place, it becomes easier to tidy up. And, instead of everything piling up around the room, it can be tucked away.
Similarly, when you’re looking for something, it becomes easier to find.
The domestic equivalent of a filing cabinet is the good, old fashioned chest of drawers.
You can, of course, fill these drawers with all kinds of mess. Drawers can hide a multitude of sins. But if you give each drawer a particular purpose, it can make such a difference.
Oh, the mindful calm of being able to locate your polka dot ankle socks. The zen of seeing your array of colour-coded knickers.
And the whole experience gets even better if the chest of drawers in question is a thing of beauty.
Storage like this is undeniably functional but it can also be gorgeous.
Pictured here is a 1.4 metre tall, white, show-stopper, complete with hand-carved drawer fronts.
Underwear. T-shirts. Jumpers. Jeans.
Bank paperwork. Photo albums. Old cassettes. Board games.
Four drawers within which you can file away anything you choose. Out of sight.
